 Transparent Welcome Table
« Thread Started on Mar 6, 2005, 1:42am »

This will make your welcome table/menu completely transparent with no borders or background color.

<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
/* transparent welcome table */

var td = document.getElementsByTagName("td");
var tt = document.getElementsByTagName("table")[0];
tt.style.backgroundColor = "transparent";
tt.cellSpacing = "0";
for(i=0; i<td.length; i++)
    td[i].style.backgroundColor = "transparent";

// -->
</script>

Goes at the top of the Global Header

I put the code in my header and it looks wonderful!
Now all I have to do is find a nice banner for my forum.
thank you for the information.

It removes the background color from the top table so that the background image shows through. I didn't really feel that a preview was necessary. There's over 130 codes here you see, so if I created a preview for every single one I'd need like 50 test boards because some of the codes don't work right with others. You can always place it in headers temporarily to see what it will look like. Nothing bad will happen :)

Remove this:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
.welcomebg{border: 1px solid black; border-bottom: 0px solid black;}
.menubg{border: 1px solid black; border-top: 0px solid black;}
-->
</style>

I really like this code, especially if you have the menu bar options in text, not pictures.

Hello all,

The question has probably been asked before (I have tried to find it though...), but is there any sort of code that will make the welcome/menu transparent? But at the same time keep the borders and a little of the background colour?

Many thanks for any help, Caj  :)

A little of the background color? You mean you want it partially transparent like the boards here? If so, read the sticky in the v3 codes board.

Yes California, just like on here mate. Sure I saw one once but couldnt find it. Maybe it was the one you say...

Thats the baby! However, I cant get the code to work  :(

I mistakenly thought that I would just have to copy the code into my headers as with other codes. On doing this, it just covered my homepage with the txt of the actual code...

What am I doing wrong? Please help!
