We really don’t know how to tell you all this, but unfortunately there never is an easy way to say what we're about to say. We have some unfortunate and tragic news to report to SoCal and the entire ProBoards community. We sincerely regret to inform you that on May 19th, our dear friend, Admin, and coding guru, Cody, who is best known as "California", has passed on. He is survived by his parents and this forum. He was an amazing coder and a great friend to us all. Cali has created many codes that have made many forums look and function professionally. He will probably be best known for assisting others with the patience of a saint. His codes are among the best that ProBoards has seen and our loss of Cody will be heavily felt throughout the PB community.
Out of respect for Cody’s privacy, (and his family's) we won’t disclose how this unfortunate loss occurred. Please forgive us for being so private about something so important and tragic, but if you knew Cali at all, you’d know he was a very private person, and we wouldn’t dare intrude upon that. So please respect Cali’s wishes, those of his friends, and most importantly… the wishes of his family, by not asking about the details of his passing. We know it’s hard to accept without any clear answers, and we’re sorry for that, but we the staff hardly know much more than you. We know it’s hard to believe, and we would love to tell you this is just some sick and twisted joke, but we’re completely heartbroken to inform you that it’s not.
There is a special thread to express your grief and/or share an event that took place between you and Cali; Our own memorial service for the man that touched all our ProBoards lives and many of our personal lives as well. However coding requests and support, as well as Graphics request, battles, ratings and S/AOTW will be closed down for 1 week (from today's date until June 19th). It’s just one of the ways we thought of to honor Cody’s passing. During this time any and all current/open requests that have not been filled or replied to will be looked at sometime next week. We would also like to ask you to please, do not contact the staff with questions of Cody's passing, or for coding or graphics support/requests. Please have patience and understanding with us during this time and the future weeks to come, as this has effected us all so deeply.
What we do know is that we won’t let all of Cali’s hard work get thrown away, at least not without putting up a fight. And thanx to Cody's mom and Martyn of PB's.... they have agreed and are helping us to keep Cody's dream, and the forum he created for us all, alive. It will never be the same without Cody and we know that, but we just can’t allow all his hard work over the past 2 years (or more) to go to waste, even though we know he and his contributions to the ProBoards community will never be forgotten. But we also can’t do it by ourselves and we can’t do it without you, the members. You all helped make SoCal what it is today, and only you can help us keep it alive. Our continued strive to keep offering and teaching coding and graphics will be the cornerstone of keeping Cali's memory a real force in the ProBoards community.

P.S. There is "someone" out there who would have you believe that we were too "afraid" to tell you all sooner, and they should be utterly ashamed of themselves for what they did. Thanks to Martyn, and some investigating, the staff knows exactly who this person is. Now the reason behind the lateness of this announcement is that we've been in close contact with Cody's mom and as per her wishes there were some things we had to take care of first and foremost before we could inform you of Cody's passing. There were also other things that needed to be sorted out ... but I hope all of you can understand that and can forgive us for the delay of such important and tragic news.
Also on behalf of Cody's friends and family.... If you have any information about what happened (or a link to Cody's obituary), please, keep it to yourself. We also ask that you do not go looking for such information... if you really need confirmation, Martyn Dale of ProBoards can confirm it for you.

Here's the reason I joined. On behalf of Cali. Me joining, and remaining as active as I possibly can be, will be my dedication to him.
I wasn't as close to Cali as I would have liked to have been, but I was close enough that when I was told the news, I was in class at school, and I left my class in tears.
Look inside you and you'll see that a hero lies in you. Cody was a hero. To many, and to all of the members of SoCal. Remember him daily, weekly, yearly. He will forever be a part of my life.

I'd just like to say that i know how hard it is loosing someone close to you, so i offer my condolences to everyone who's heart-broken over this.
My contribution to Cali will be to do my personal best to help in any way i can on the forum.

I'm sorry this thread should have been locked.... in all the grief and finally releasing the news, it must have slipped our minds. Please post all your comments, thoughts and other memories or ways to contribute inside this thread, please.
